Vademecum for civic education in schools
The Vademecum highlights examples of practices involving civil society associations and organizations that enable the implementation of formal and non-formal educational methods.
What's inside ?
This production consists of an inventory of good European practices in the field of citizenship education carried out in secondary schools in Europe. It contains:
- Interdisciplinary pedagogical pathways of citizenship education carried by educational teams: pathways to raise awareness of elections, within the framework of school projects, equivalents of citizen's career paths and moral and civic education etc.
- Examples of activities carried out by high school students to encourage expression and debate: debate clubs, sessions, expression events open to the local community etc.
- School life mechanisms that promote high school democracy: student councils, consultations, participatory budgets, etc.
- National legal and pedagogical frameworks regarding citizenship education for each good practice presented

Survey
EYP France and Ecos coordinated and edited a questionnaire to gather good practices from all over Europe. In order to do so, we have solicited various actors and innovative practices

Sort out the collected practices
We aimed to identify a wide variety of practices that target students, teachers as well as school administrative and public authorities.

In-depth interview with some actors
We coducted interviews in order to get more details on some of the gathered practices as well as a study of the national legislative and pedagogical frameworks

The vademecum
A digital production in Portuguese, French and English bringing together 20 good practices identified in 10 countries.
